Choosing a Plug-In Timer or Extension Lead
Read the connected appliance's power requirements and compare them with the accessory's stated rating. A digital timer can automate switching within its intended use, while a correctly rated extension lead adds socket positions where appropriate. Never overload electrical accessories or connect extension leads in a chain.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I use a digital plug-in timer for?
A compatible timer can switch suitable connected appliances according to a programmed schedule. Check the timer's load limits and the appliance's own instructions.
How long is the extension lead?
The current Lectrolite four-gang extension lead is listed with a 2m cable. Check the product page for the latest details.
Can I use all four extension sockets at once?
Only within the extension lead's combined safe electrical rating. The stated 13A limit is not a separate allowance for every socket.
Can an extension lead be used outdoors?
Do not use an ordinary indoor extension outdoors unless it is explicitly suitable and installed according to its rating and instructions.
Is a plug timer suitable for any electrical appliance?
No. Check both timer compatibility and the appliance manufacturer's guidance, especially for heaters and other high-power or safety-critical products.
